Blake Bennett Memorial Tribute

Blake Bennett, a former Jazz Club scholarship recipient, was killed in a hit and run accident on November 17 in Tallahassee. He was an honor student and excellent musician at FSU. Blake lived in Osprey and graduated from Pine View. A covid compliant jam session is planned for December 27 at Pine View School in Osprey. Social distancing and masks will be required. Event organizer, Isaac Mingus, indicated past and present Jazz Club scholarship recipients, as well as friends, will perform.

Arrangements are being made to live-stream the event and more information will be provided as it becomes available.

The Jazz Club Scholarship Program

The goal of the scholarship program of the Jazz Club of Sarasota is to further an understanding of jazz and/or to develop performance skills in the field of jazz. Residents of Southwest Florida, who are high school seniors or current college students, will be considered for one of our merit scholarships. College students may reapply for a scholarship each year of undergraduate study. Applications may be submitted electronically or via mail and must include audition performances, statement of goals, and recommendations.
