Jazz at Two -Danny Sinoff Trio

Danny Sinoff, piano and vocals. Sinoff studied classical piano & turned to jazz at 17. His influences are Oscar Peterson, Bill Evans, Kenny Barron, Harry Connick, Jr and Frank Sinatra. Patricia Dean, drums and vocals. As a drummer, she is an inspiring and supremely tasteful time-keeper, accompanist & soloist. Monday Night Jazz Cabaret - Brandon Robertson Quartet

Brandon Robertson is an EMMY® nominated director and bassist originally from Tampa, FL. He has performed at the world famous Dizzy's Coca Cola Club in New York City with the nationally recognized FSU Jazz Sextet joining members of the JALC Orchestra. Among others, Brandon has performed with notable acts such as the Count Basie Orchestra led by director Scotty Barnhart. He is the Director of Jazz Studies, Jazz Ensemble & Director of the FGCU Basketball Band at Florida Gulf Coast University. Jazz at Two -James Suggs Trio

One of the finest trumpet players in the Bay area, James Suggs, originally from Harrisburg,PA, has music degrees from Youngstown State and University of So. Florida. He has toured and recorded with the Glenn Miller Orchestra and performed with the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra, Kenny Burrell, Dick Hyman, Robin Eubanks, Chuck Mangione, Maria Schneider, John Lamb, Nate Najar, Harry Allen, Chuck Redd and Frankie Avalon to name a few. He has performed critically acclaimed tributes to Louis Armstrong and Miles Davis. The trio features Alejandro Arenas, and John O’leary. Tickets at the door $10 - $20.

Michael Whitty, trombone, is also an accomplished vocalist and pianist. Recently located to the Bay area from northern Ohio. Whitty performs music from the GAS ranging from the Gershwins to Otis Redding. He has been performing in venues all over the world for over 30 years including shows in NYC, Las Vegas & the Florida Keys. Quartet features Hiram Hazley, bass, Ben Winkler, piano and Joe Renda, drums. Tickets at the door $10 - $20.

Jazz at Two - Melanie Massell and Company

Melanie Massell delights and entertains her audiences with her charm and charisma. An Atlanta native, she has been a featured performer at the Atlanta Jazz Festival and was nominated as “Outstanding Jazz Artist” at the Coca-Cola Music Awards and appeared at Atlanta Symphony Hall with the Atlanta Concert Band. She relocated to the Sarasota/Bradenton area in 2007 and has been performing in venues throughout the area with her vast repertoire of jazz, blues, country, soul, r&b, pop and Latin music. Joining her are Keith Carman, piano; Kirk Reyes, bass; Johnnie Moore, drums and saxophonist, TBA. Tickets at the door $10 JC members; $20 non-mbrs.

Leon Anderson Quartet in Concert

First Presbyterian Church of Sarasota, 2050 Oak St,, Sarasota

Jazz Club presents this concert as part of the First Presbyterian Church Oak St. Festival. Leon Anderson is Associate Professor and Director of Jazz Studies at Florida State University. His musical experience includes that of a classical and jazz percussionist, educator, clinician, and composer. Mr. Anderson received the B.A. degree in Music Education at Louisiana Tech University and in 1996 completed the M.A. degree in Percussion Performance at Southeastern Louisiana University. His mentors have included Ellis Marsalis and Victor Goines of the New Orleans jazz scene. Mr. Anderson currently teaches drum set, jazz ensembles, and rhythm section methods at the FSU College of Music. Quartet features Bill Peterson, piano; Brandon Robertson, bass; Jalen Baker, vibes. Also performing is vocalist Avis Berry.
