Jazz at Two - 2018 Scholarship Recipients

The concert will feature the 2018 Jazz Club Scholarship winners. These young musicians represent the future of jazz. Join us and show support for these talented artists. Nine of the fourteen recipients performed before a delighted audience at Giorgio's for the scholarship awards dinner. The audience marveled at the talent these young musicians displayed. Jazz at Two - Dan Miller/Lew DelGatto Quartet

Delighted to present Dan Miller and Lew DelGatto to our Jazz @ 2 audience. Dan toured & recorded with many top jazz artists. A member of the Harry Connick Jr. Orchestra for many years, Miller traveled the world, recording numerous albums and TV specials. Lew DelGatto was a member of Doc Severinson’s Tonight Show Band & played 25 years with the Saturday Night Live Orchestra. Brandon Robertson, bass and Tony Vigilante, drums complete the quartet. Jazz at Two - Kitt Moran & Mike Moran Trio

Before moving to Florida, Kitt and Mike Moran performed in the top jazz clubs in NYC, New Jersey, Philadelphia area and the Atlantic City Casinos for many years. Joy of Jazz - Bill Buchman's Art of Jazz

Opening the FREE outdoor concert series at the Centennial Park Gazebo, Venice is pianist Bill Buchman and his "Art of Jazz". Bill's music has a foundation in everything from New Orleans Swing, boogie woogie, blues and Latin jazz. Series is co-sponsored by the Gulf Coast Community Foundation. One of the area's more versatile artists, Tom Ellison, on reeds and vocals, is joined by the talented pianist, Judi Glover; drums and bassist TBA. In addition to small groups, Tom performs with big bands and orchestras on the Gulf Coast and area stage productions at the Asolo, Van Wezel and Venice Theatre. Judi is principal pianist for the Venice Symphony and performs in area productions at the Asolo and other stage productions in the Bay area.

Tony Boffa was one of the favorite concerts from last season. He is a graduate of the Berklee School of Music and had his own show and dance band for many years. He performs regularly in Charlotte & Lee counties. You will hear jazz standards and music from the American songbook and some familiar pop tunes done in Tony's unique style. Quite simply, Tony makes it fun. Pianist Matt Bokulic joins Tony along with Jay Heavilin, bass and Joe Bilardo, drums. Doors open 1:30; tickets $10-$20.

Jazz in the Park -39th Festival opening event

A teacher for 33 years, Eckert now performs with the Sarasota Jazz Project & is pianist for other performers in the Bay area. Joining Jerry are Rich MacDonald, drums and Bruce Wallace, bass.
